Scoop Stretcher

The aluminium scoop stretcher is a device used specifically for casualty lifting. It is most frequently used to lift supine patients from the ground, either due to unconciousness or in order to maintain stability in the case of trauma, especially spinal injury, where it is used as an intermediate step between the ground and a restraining device such as a spine board.


To immobilise the patient to the scoop stretcher a head block set and straps are required - four individual straps are provided with this board. The scoop stretcher can be folded for storage/transport.
  

*Note: A study in the Jan-March, 2006 issue of the "Prehospital Emergency Care Journal" indicates a Scoop Stretcher "was found to be as effective as, if not superior to, the standard of care of a rigid long backboard" when used for spinal immobilization.
